Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics

Penn State Berks, a college within the Pennsylvania State University located in Reading, PA, is seeking applicants for a position in Mathematics beginning Fall 2023.

The Pennsylvania State University, Berks College, invites applications for a multi-year, full-time (FTM) Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor in Mathematics beginning Fall 2023.

Job Responsibilities:
  • A demonstrated interest and commitment to undergraduate teaching are essential for this position.
  • The candidate will be expected to teach courses primarily in the Calculus sequence (including Calculus for Biology and Business Calculus).
  • Teaching experience in Statistics is a plus. The teaching load is 24 credits for the academic year.
  • Credit overloads for Calculus support courses may be necessary.
  • The contract is renewable based on performance evaluations and institutional needs.


Education and Experience:
  • The successful candidate's degree and experience will determine the final rank of the position.
  • Minimum requirement of a master's degree in mathematics, or statistics, or a closely related field; Ph.D. and college-level teaching experience (especially Calculus) preferred; teaching experience in Statistics is a plus.
  • An interest or experience in working with underrepresented students and/or community is highly desirable.
  • Our student population is presently comprised of over 20% underrepresented students, which is expected to grow in the coming years, as over 80% of the students in local high schools are representative of this group.
