Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics, University at Buffalo, State University of New York, is accepting applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor (academic-year commitment) in applied mathematics, effective August 2023. Renewal of this non-tenure-track appointment is possible with satisfactory performance and dependent on departmental teaching needs.

The position involves teaching, and developing content for, an introductory hands-on project-based course in scientific and mathematical computing using Python/Numpy, as well as other courses in the applied math curriculum with a computational component, such as probability, linear algebra, differential equations, etc. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester.

A PhD in mathematics or related field is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in curriculum development, including hands-on project-based learning techniques.
