Fellowship Description:

*** this fellowship has been closed. ***

A postdoctoral fellowship in quantum computing is open for application at the Alfred Renyi Institute of Mathematics in Budapest, Hungary.

The position is starting in February 2023 or after. It is for one or two years, with a possibility for extension. Topics include quantum algorithms, quantum walks, simulating open quantum systems (Lindbladian evolution and quantum Metropolis sampling), hybrid quantum-classical computing and related topics.

The project is financed by the European Union, through the ERC Synergy Grant "Dynamics and Structure of Networks" led by Albert-Laszlo Barabasi (CEU), Laszlo Lovasz (Renyi Institute) and Jaroslav Nesetril (Charles University), and through the QuantEra grant "Hybrid Quantum Classical Computation" led by Andris Ambainis (U Latvia), Zoltán Zimborás (Wigner RCP), Jens Eisert (FU Berlin) and Yasser Omar (U Lisbon).

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project, we are seeking candidates open to collaborating outside their strict expertise.

This is a no teaching position, in particular, candidates are not required to speak Hungarian. The salary is up to negotiation but is competitive with European postdoctoral salaries. Shortlisted candidates are invited to visit the group in Budapest.

The deadline for application is February 15, 2023, then continuously until the position is filled. Please send applications by e-mail to the project leader András Gilyén (gilyen@renyi.hu).

The application should contain:

• a CV, with a list of publications

• a short (1-2 pages) summary of past research

• a short (1-2 pages) research statement

Two letters of recommendation should be sent directly to gilyen@renyi.hu.

The preferred format for all documents is PDF.

We are not accepting applications for this job through MathJobs.Org right now. Please see the job description above on how to apply.
