The Mathematics and Statistics Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for full-time term faculty positions in both mathematics and statistics. These are non-tenure-track appointments for fall semester 2023 and spring semester 2024, with possible extension as needed by the department. The appointment starts August 21, 2023. Candidates will be considered for the rank Assistant Professor or Instructor, determined by qualifications. A PhD. is required for the rank of Assistant Professor (9403) and a master’s degree is required for the rank of Instructor (9404). Applicants should be able to teach a wide range of mathematics and/or statistics courses including courses in our Securian Learning Lab, show evidence of teaching excellence and demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population. Duties & Responsibilities include teaching (approximately 90%) and service (approximately 10%). Teaching duties include in class teaching, assessment, office hours, and undergraduate advising. Service duties include meeting attendance, committee work and other service and outreach activities.

Required qualifications include a master’s (9404) or Ph.D. (9403) in statistics, mathematics, or related field awarded by time of appointment from a regionally accredited institution with a Ph.D. preferred. Preferred Qualifications include previous teaching experience at the collegiate level (such as teaching assistant experience) to a diverse group of students, evidence of effective teaching, evidence of scholarship in statistics, mathematics, or related field, and effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position.
