Position Description
University of Michigan – Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at the
University of Michigan invites applications for a Lecturer III in Mathematics
to begin August 28, 2023. This is a
university-year appointment. This is not
a tenure-track position but may be renewed.
The initial contract is for three years.
Criteria for selection and for renewal are excellence in classroom
teaching; demonstrated administrative skills equal to managing coordinated
courses with large numbers of sections and instructors; mentoring skills to
develop new instructors; and the ability to work both within the existing
course structure and productively with faculty and staff administering the
program in which the courses run.
Interest and activity in pedagogical research is encouraged but not
essential for reappointment. The
successful candidate is likely to have both a doctorate or equivalent
credentials in Mathematics and substantial experience in teaching mathematics
at the collegiate level. Please submit a
curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence
of teaching excellence and course administrative skills, a statement of your
commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the names of at least three
