The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for two non-tenure track faculty positions in Statistics or Data Science at the Assistant Professor of Instruction level. The open positions are primarily teaching appointments aimed at servicing master level applied statistics, data science, computational, and programming courses within Department of Mathematics’ newly developed master’s degree program in Applied Statistics and Data Science (MS ASDS) and some introductory courses in the BS Data Science program within the College of Science at UTA.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching Statistics or Data Science related courses and their associated labs. The responsibilities of the 12-months full-time NTT faculty will include teaching a total of eight courses in MS ASDS in the Mathematics Department and some courses in BS Data Science within the College of Science. The actual teaching assignments will be determined by the Program Director based on the program needs and student enrollments. If courses in the MS ASDS or BS Data Science do not meet minimum enrollment, you will be reassigned to other duties to support administration, student recruitment, and curriculum development.

Candidates for Assistant Professor of Instruction must have a doctoral degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a data-intensive scientific field.

The Assistant Professor of Instruction should show proficiency in techniques, programming languages, and software stack employed in contemporary Data Science. Candidates must demonstrate a solid commitment to teaching excellence and should share the university’s core values of fostering an open and inclusive environment that promotes diversity and participation of groups that are currently underrepresented in the fields of Applied Statistics and Data Science.
