Research Associate in Mathematics AMMP Section, Department of Mathematics Faculty of Natural Sciences £43,093- £50,834 per annum* Maximum salary on appointment £43,093 Fixed Term for 11 Months Ref: NAT01384

Start date: 1 September 2023 or soon thereafter

The position is funded by the Royal Society (Wolfson Fellowship); the research project focuses on questions in Fourier Analysis and PDE.

Duties and Responsibilities The project will focus on two questions in Mathematical Analysis: on the one hand, the study of wave turbulence through the kinetic wave equation, and on the other hand the study of the boundedness of spectral projectors on Riemannian manifolds. Both directions are related through the methods used (Fourier Analysis), but also more directly. These research investigations will be carried out in collaboration with Pierre Germain. The candidate is also expected to interact and collaborate with the faculty at Imperial College.

Essential Requirements The essential requirements for this post are as follows: · PhD degree (or equivalent level of professional qualifications and/or experience) in Mathematics · Knowledge of classical analysis and PDE tools · Experience in carrying out research evidenced by publications of high quality · Ability to carry out original research and to work independently · Ability to write research papers and give clear seminar talks · Ability to learn new methods and ideas · Ability to identify, develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods

Further Information The position is fixed term for 11 months. The expected start date is 1 September 2023 or soon thereafter.

Please note that appointments will be made at the bottom point of the salary scale.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range, £38,194- £41,388 per annum.
