GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Coordinate mathematics preparation courses and support co-requisites for select courses; manage and staff mathematics computer lab; teach and assist with foundational mathematics courses and monitor student progress. Research, design, and oversee implementation of foundational mathematics curricula and practices taking into account national practices and institutional data. Supplemental opportunities to teach courses are available throughout the year, if interested.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Organize and manage all foundational mathematics courses designed to prepare students for college level mathematics. These courses are referred to as “Math Prep” below. 2. In consultation with the Mathematics Department Chairperson: • Hire and staff Math Associates (in-class tutors for Math Prep courses and co-requisite instructors). • Train and supervise Math Associates. • Serve as a Math Associate as needed in sections of the Math Prep courses. • Create/update course materials for foundational mathematics • Facilitate communication between faculty and Math Associates in Math Prep courses. • Select and order course materials for all sections of the Math Prep courses. • Manage computerized or online instruction systems used in the Math Prep courses. • As needed, help develop/update/update curriculum for co-requisite courses. 3. In consultation with the Mathematics Department Chairperson, Advising and Career Center, Tutoring Center, Office of the Executive Director for Student Success and others as appropriate, focus on student success in foundational mathematics education by: • Developing and implementing appropriate curricula starting points for students in Math Prep courses • Working with students (and their instructors) who need more time to complete Math Prep courses. • Administering make-up exams for students in Math Prep courses. • Referring students and faculty to learning and support services on campus, as appropriate. • Fielding questions and issues from students, faculty, tutors and Math Associates. • Collaborating with Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center to facilitate communication between them and the Mathematics Department to maximize support efforts 4.In consultation with the Mathematics Department Chairperson, Dean of Health and Natural Sciences, Institutional Research and other university offices and programs: • Organize summer and winter session instruction in foundational mathematics courses including Summer Bridge program. • Offer mathematics instruction and Math Prep course availability to Early College High School, Upward Bound and other outreach and community-based programs in the summer and winter sessions. • Report on student performance and retention in foundational math, and first-year math courses. • Research foundational mathematics and co-requisite models at other institutions to inform proposed changes in these areas. • Represent the university and the mathematics department, as appropriate to the position, at divisional, university, and commonwealth-wide conferences and meetings, including committee meetings.

Requirements: 1. At least two years of experience teaching mathematics at the secondary-school or higher levels, including the use of standardized testing and online learning or learning management systems. Bilingual English and Spanish skills, supervision and administrative experience preferred. 2. Bachelor's degree in STEM related field or STEM Education (required). Master's in STEM related field or STEM Education (preferred) 3. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check); a background check satisfactory to the university and must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 or have a documented and approved exemption. 4. Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Shift Information: Full time benefited APA Union position. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm.
