The University of Macau (UM) is an
internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special
Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong

the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM. The Department of Mathematics (MAT) of the Faculty of
Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant
Professor in the area of Applied Mathematics. This position is intended to
complement and strengthen the expertise of existing staff members. We are
seeking candidates with a proven track record in terms of scientific publications,
and a commitment to teaching and student supervision. MAT currently has 19 faculty members
and more than 40 PhD students, their research areas cover Probability and
Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics,
and Analysis. The department offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs.
The Bachelor degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics
and Data Science. The PhD program provides sufficient financial supports
through the following funding sources: Chinese Government NSFC Funding, Macau
Government FDCT PhD Funding, UM PhD Scholarship, UM PhD Assistantship. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics. The candidates for appointment at the rank of
Associate Professor must have achieved a high level of distinction and
recognition, and have made significant contributions to a related research
area. The selected candidate is expected to
assume duty in August 2023. Remuneration A taxable annual remuneration starting
from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the
successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional
experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively
around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive
