The Center for Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence at NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for several postdoctoral fellowship positions from candidates with research interests in machine learning and data science, particularly in deep learning (DL) and artificial intelligence. We seek candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science and Statistics, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment. Recent Ph.D.s in mathematics or computational science who are interested in changing fields are also encouraged to apply.

The main scientific themes include theories and applications of deep learning and AI: • Mathematical and statistical theory of deep learning and machine learning (generalization and overparameterization) • Optimization and mean-field analysis in training large-scale models • Theory for deep reinforcement learning: generalization and sampling efficiency • Development of ML and AI tools to solve various problems in scientific disciplines.

The postdocs will work closely with faculty mentors, and will interact with groups at NYU Shanghai. The postdocs are expected to present their work in seminars and related workshops or conferences. Teaching is not required, but opportunities exist for those who are interested in teaching experience. One or two-year renewable appointments are available with flexible starting date. The salary and benefits are competitive.

Terms of employment at NYU Shanghai are comparable to NYU New York and other U.S. institutions.
