Job description
This professorship (f/m/d) is in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and strengthens the area of Mathematical Analysis in research and teaching. We are looking for a person (f/m/d) with a proven research focus in a current area of analysis (in the broader sense) with interest in applications in mathematics as well as other areas. The ideal candidate is expected to have a research profile with clear connections to the existing research groups - in particular to the Institute for Dynamical Systems (IDS) – and would complement the existing research topics while enabling new collaborations. We expect a willingness to cooperate with other disciplines within and beyond the University of Bremen, for example in the areas of artificial intelligence, data science, marine research, environmental physics, complex systems or other physics applications. In this context, we also refer to the high-profile research areas of the University of Bremen (see www.uni-bremen.de/en/research/research-profile/high-profile-areas). Research experience in an international context is expected. Furthermore, interest and appropriate experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects are expected.

In addition to research and activities relevant to external funding, the duties include teaching in the (German-language) Bachelor's and Master's degree programs Mathematics and Industrial Mathematics as well as in the English-language Master's degree programs Mathematics and Industrial Mathematics & Data Analysis, in the Mathematics Education degree programs, and mathematics courses Faculty 3 provides for the Physics, Engineering, and Economics faculties. The willingness to teach English-language courses and to offer German-language courses after two years at the latest is expected. Fluency in German at the time of employment is not mandatory. Active promotion of young scientists is expected. In addition, interest, willingness to assist with and, if applicable, experience in the area of innovations in teaching, continuing education in higher education didactics and academic self-administration are expected. Furthermore, critical reflection on gender and diversity issues in research and teaching is expected.

Requirements
Requirements for appointment are a completed relevant university degree, an outstanding relevant doctorate, a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements, possibly attained in the context of a junior professorship, as well as teaching experience and didactic aptitude. The appointment is based on § 18 BremHG and § 116 BremBG.
