Mathematics Clinical (MaRC Director) Position Description

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Clinical Faculty position in Mathematics to begin in September 2023.

The successful candidate will teach three introductory-level mathematics courses during the academic year. The focus of the position is managing the MaRC (Mathematics Resource Center), including hiring, scheduling and supervising student tutors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the placement assessment and supervise the Math placement specialist. Responsibilities include both Academic year and Summer.

Clinical faculty at the University of St. Thomas are qualified in a given field or discipline by having established records as accomplished practitioners or by having made significant contributions to the arts, sciences or their profession. Clinical appointments are non-tenure track appointments that are subject to one-year renewals. Applicants must have a B.S. or B.A in Mathematics and at minimum an M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or a related field. The applicants must also be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and experience in the administration of tutoring services.

The University of St. Thomas is a liberal arts institution that values excellence in teaching and research.  The 18-member Department of Mathematics (http://www.stthomas.edu/mathematics ) offers bachelor's programs in mathematics, mathematics education, and actuarial science, and supports the interdepartmental degree program in statistics and is quite active in undergraduate research.   The Actuarial Science Program (http://www.stthomas.edu/actuarialscience ) offers a Bachelor of Science degree and is in the Department of Mathematics.  The Center for Applied Mathematics (http://www.stthomas.edu/cam ) is located within the department and supports faculty and student research on a variety of projects.
