Responsibilities include: teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate computer science courses with flexibility in course assignments, fostering career development in students, and generally supporting community within the department. Belhaven University’s Math & Computer Science Department The MCS Department has close to 100 students majoring in one of its programs and fits in Belhaven’s Division of Science & Mathematics, the largest academic group on campus. There is generous support from the university’s administration, and a healthy community of colleagues within the STEM disciplines. Belhaven’s Division of Science & Mathematics also boasts a large proportion of female students as well as minority and first-generation college students. We are members of the Association of Computing and Machinery and the Mathematical Association of America and encourage students to engage in professional development such as applying for internships, attending conferences, interacting with professionals, and taking site visits.
