The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a visiting faculty position in Mathematics to begin August 1, 2023. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of five courses over two semesters. A strong commitment to teaching is required. The Colleges are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community. Experience with and/or interest in working in a multicultural environment, and supporting and encouraging mathematical excellence from students with diverse and varied backgrounds and experiences is highly desirable.

Founded as Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith Colleges today are a highly selective, gender diverse residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum but separate dean’s offices, student governments, athletic programs and traditions. The Colleges are located in a small diverse city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. With an enrollment of approximately 1,600, the Colleges provide a rigorous curriculum from which students choose two areas of concentration from a wide array of majors and minors, and offer three Master’s programs. Creative and extensive programs of international study and public service are also at the core of the Colleges’ mission.

Application: Candidates with a Ph.D. in mathematics by August 2023 are strongly preferred but A.B.D. with teaching experience will be considered. An application should include a cover letter, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement describing how you create an inclusive classroom, three letters of recommendation (at least one including comments on teaching), a curriculum vitae, and a graduate transcript (scanned copy acceptable).
