Assistant Professors of Instruction in Mathematics and in Statistics

Position Description

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for full-time non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Mathematics and in Statistics. A successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes, contribute assessment information and data as requested, engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have as minimal qualification a Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics with 18 credit hours of graduate work in Mathematics or Statistics, but the preferred qualification is PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field. Candidates must demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching, and service. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. The appointment commences Fall 2023.

About the Department of Mathematical Sciences

The University of Texas at Dallas is a rapidly growing university with ambitious plans to advance in education and research. The Department offers BS and BA in Mathematics, BS in Data Science (jointly with the Computer Science Department), Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science, PhD in Mathematics, MS in Mathematics, PhD in Statistics, MS in Statistics, BS in Actuarial Science, MS in Actuarial Science, MS degree program in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, and a Graduate Certificate in Data Science. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is the Center of Actuarial Excellence, which is the highest international designation by the Society of Actuaries.
