The Mathematics Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to hire full-time lecturers for two-year contracts, with appointments beginning September 14, 2023 and ending August 31, 2025. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a master's degree is $55,332 - $64,860 annually. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a doctorate degree is $71,148 - $81,432 annually. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate pre-calculus and calculus courses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related discipline such as Physical Science or Engineering is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is preferred. Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses at the collegiate level. SPECIAL CONDITIONS

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Mathematics Department offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses. There are approximately 175 sections of math classes each quarter with an average lower-division enrollment of 35 per class. The faculty consists of approximately 33 permanent faculty, 15 temporary (both full-time and part-time), and 15 graduate teaching associates. The Mathematics Department does not offer any courses in statistics or computer science.
