Position Description
Lecturer – Mathematics ATTENTION: The Department of Mathematics in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater invites applications for a full-time Academic Staff Lecturer in Mathematics, starting Fall 2023 for the 2023-24 academic year. Teaching assignments will be primarily courses below the level of calculus. This will be a 9-month fixed term appointment. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon the needs of the University, funding, staffing requirements, and external forces. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications • Master’s Degree in Mathematics or in a related field, and • 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics. Desired Qualifications • Strong commitment to teaching; preference will be given to those who present evidence of successful classroom teaching experiences in mathematics. • Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments centered around active and innovative pedagogy, particularly in general education mathematics courses. • Experience teaching mathematics education courses. • Experience teaching co-requisite support courses. RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time teaching responsibility consists of teaching twenty-seven credits of undergraduate mathematics courses per year. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: The UW-Whitewater Department of Mathematics is one of fourteen departments in the College of Letters and Sciences. The Department of Mathematics offers a general mathematics major as well as a mathematics major with emphasis in one of three areas: actuarial science, secondary education, or statistics.
