The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Geodesy of Graz University of Technology is seeking to appoint a full university professor (m/f/d) in the field Analysis and Number Theory at the Institute of Analysis and Number Theory, and is starting October 1, 2024. The position is tenured according to Section 98 of the Austrian University Act (§98 UG). Duties and profile of the position For this position we are looking for a highly qualified individual of international standing who has an excellent research profile in an active area of number theory and analysis that extends the existing research activities of the department. The position is embedded in the Field of Expertise “Information, Communication and Computing” which consists of research groups in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and other areas. Teaching duties associated with this position include Mathematics courses for Mechanical Engineering. We expect that the applicant is able to cover the field to its full extent at the bachelor, master and doctoral level, and to teach in cooperation with KFU Graz within the framework of the NAWI cooperation program. Required criteria: • A university doctorate in the field • Outstanding scientific qualifications in the field for both research and teaching (as evidenced by habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent scientific achievements) • Pedagogic and didactic skills, as shown by a habilitation or comparable qualifications • International experience in the field • Leadership skills. Experience in grant acquisition is desirable. Applicants should have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, to be able to effectively represent the field internationally, and they must also be willing to learn German if they do not already know the language.
