The Faculty of Economics and Management at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano is seeking candidates to fill a full-time tenured position at the Associate Professor level in Statistics based in the Bruneck-Brunico campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an independent research portfolio in statistics, statistical learning and machine learning, as well as collaborative/applied research to strengthen the research macro-area "Quantitative Methods and Economic Modeling" of the faculty. Candidates with a broad range of methodological research interests are welcome and encouraged to apply, but particular attention will be paid to applicants with an interest in developing statistical methods for the analysis of big data arising in economics and business. Duties include at least 120 hours of teaching per year in statistics subjects at the undergraduate, master or doctoral levels as well as student supervision. The compensation package for the position is competitive and matches that of leading European universities. Addi-tionally, under certain conditions, it is possible to obtain a long-standing, substantial reduction in income tax in Italy for up to 13 years. Expected appointment date is June 2024.

Qualifications Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in statistics and at least three years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. Candidates must have an excellent research record in methodological and computational statis-tics evidenced by scientific publications in leading journals of statistics as well as experience in collaborative research. Preference will be given to candidates with a solid mathematical/methodological background interested in developing cross-disciplinary research in economics and management, and able to contribute to the international outreach and multi-lingual mission of the faculty. Ideal candidates should also be committed to fostering principles of diversity, in-clusion, and belonging throughout their research and teaching activities. Requirements According to Italian legislation, only candidates already holding an equivalent academic position of Associate Professor at their current foreign university (a university outside Italy) are eligible to take part in this application process of a “direct call from abroad”. Application that do not satisfy this requirement will not be short-listed. Furthermore, the Selection Committee will consider applicants meeting the following conditions: a) PhD in Statistics b) Three years or more of post-doctoral or equivalent research in statistics or related field c) Excellence in research at the international level, demonstrated by an excellent record publications in leading inter-national journals, including journals with a high impact factor or type A classification of the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research ANVUR-GEV13 (13/D1) d) Evidence of high-quality teaching and mentoring e) Significant level of service to the university and the broader international scientific community f) Evidence of ability to raise external funds for research g) Ability to teach in at least two of the three official languages at the University (English, German, Italian)
