Birmingham-Southern College invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Lecturer in Data Science beginning fall 2023, with the potential for tenure track in the future. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field by August 2023.

A residential liberal arts college enrolling approximately 800 undergraduate students, BSC is included in Pope’s Colleges that Change Lives and is a sheltering institution for Phi Beta Kappa. The College recently endured a funding crisis and is in the process of rebuilding the faculty and staff. This will be the first year of offering the graduate program in Data Science, and the initial cohort will consist of approximately 25 students.

Providing an outstanding education is the primary mission of the College, and applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, particularly online teaching. All faculty members are expected to participate fully in the life of the department and College through activities such as academic advising and committee service. The anticipated teaching load is four graduate courses per year.
