As part of the Inclusive Excellence Cluster Hiring Initiative, the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary invites applications for an Associate Professor (with tenure) in Mathematics and Statistics with a specialization in the fundamentals and/or applications of machine learning methods. This position is only open to qualified women candidates. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2023, or a mutually agreed upon date. Description of Position The candidate will be able to interact within the diverse research environment in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the Faculty of Science, and the University of Calgary, and take advantage of the access to state-of-the-art core infrastructure. The candidate is also expected to collaborate with some established research program(s) in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science. These research programs include but are not limited to inverse problems, imaging, optimization, mathematical and computational finance, mathematical biology, computational neuroscience, computational homology, and quantum computing. Applicants must have a strong track record of an independent research program, demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at university level utilizing contemporary approaches to teaching, evidence of effective graduate student supervision, and evidence they contribute collegially within their academic unit.
