Position Description

The Biostatistics program at the School of Public Health (SPH) of the Louisiana State University Health—New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) is hiring a full-time instructor or a tenure-track assistant professor faculty in biostatistics.

Applicants for the instructor must hold a Master’s or higher degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related area. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in LSUHSC-NO, both on campus and online, advise and mentor graduate students in the Masters of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Science (MS) degree programs, and provide service to the biostatistics program, SPH, and LSUHSC-NO.

Applicants for the assistant professor position must hold a doctorate in biostatistics, statistics, or a related area. In addition, candidates being considered for this position will have evidence of potential to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program, a demonstrated interest in teaching, and a commitment to biostatistics and public health. Candidates will be expected to teach biostatistics courses, collaborate with other researchers, establish independent externally funded research, advise and mentor students and post-doctoral fellows. The anticipated start date for this position is no later than January 17, 2024. We will start reviewing applications on July 3rd until the position is filled.

The Biostatistics Program offers Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MS), and Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. Biostatistics faculty members enjoy strong collaborative relationships with other Programs in the School of Public Health and with schools across the health science center, including the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Dentistry, School of Allied Health, and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. We seek candidates with research interest and experience in broad areas of biostatistics methods development and applications that complement and strengthen current research programs by our health sciences center campus faculty.
