Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country’s top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into additional subjects, including language arts, science, and computer science.

AoPS offers rigorous, high-quality classes for elementary to high school students through multiple class formats. We currently train tens of thousands of students from around the world in our online courses and community. We are looking for a data-driven leader to oversee the instructional teams for AoPS Online and our Virtual Campus. Reporting to our Senior Director of Delivery, the Director of Online Instruction oversees the instructors and management staff for all of our online classes. The Director of Online Instruction will play a key role in keeping a high quality bar for our instruction while promoting operational efficiency.

In this role, you will: *Oversee the instructional management team which is responsible for the delivery of educational services provided by AoPS Online and the Virtual Campus. *Ensure a high standard for the quality of instruction and grading for all online classes. *Supervise the process of staffing classes, ranging from seasonal planning and last minute substitutions. *Supervise the hiring, training, and evaluation of instructors, teaching assistants, and graders. *Continually identify areas for improvement in the Instructional space and drive positive changes. *Monitor and interpret metrics to direct future efforts. *Oversee the expenses of online instructional teams and lead effort in improving staffing efficiency Supervise the tracking, execution, and maintenance of yearly recurring projects, tasks, and responsibilities, such as launching seasonal course scheduling. *Coordinate with company leadership to determine projects, priorities, and policies relating to online classes. *Identify and prioritize operational improvements that require engineering resources, and work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to execute. *Serve as the main point-of-contact for instructional inquiries, concerns, and cross-functional collaboration while driving cross-functional trouble-shooting, planning, and coordination. *Other tasks related to the delivery of online classes, as assigned.

Preferred skills and experience: *Demonstrated people management experience, including the ability to manage managers. *Deep understanding of math, physics, or computer science education. Ability in setting exceptionally high standards for instructional qualities and experience in implementing such standards *Outstanding communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. *Capable of multitasking in a fast paced environment. *Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and be creative in solving novel problems.

Perks and Benefits: This is a hybrid full-time position based at our headquarters in San Diego, CA. The full salary range for this position is 100-150k, with a variable year-end bonus based on individual and company performance.
