Position Description
We are searching for a Senior Lecturer to join the Division of Algebra and Geometry, https://www.chalmers.se/institutioner/mv/forskning/avdelningen-for-algebra-och-geometri/ The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a high-level research program with emphasis on algebra and geometry and participate in the undergraduate and graduate level teaching in mathematics at our department. We expect the successful candidate to strengthen and complement the research conducted at the Division of Algebra and Geometry, for instance in Algebraic geometry and Number theory. We are committed teachers with extensive and broad experience in all aspects of undergraduate and graduate education in mathematics. We are appreciated by students and are continuously seeking opportunities for pedagogical improvement. Our ambition is to teach mathematics at the highest international level. Duties The assignments comprise conducting research in mathematics, teaching courses in mathematics at basic as well as advanced level, supervision of students (at undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels), administrative tasks at the department, actively applying for external funding. You should actively seek challenges and new opportunities in order to develop your work. Communication and collaboration skills are important since many of your duties will be carried out in collaboration with others. You are expected to collaborate with actors outside academia, for instance, in collaborative projects or popular science activities. If you have no previous university teacher’s pedagogical training, you are expected to take such courses within one year from the start of the employment.
