The Department of Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for Olga Taussky-John Todd Teaching Fellowships in Mathematics, beginning September 2024.

 

Taussky-Todd Teaching Fellowships will be offered to candidates within three years of having received their PhD who show strong research promise, preferably in one of the areas in which a Caltech Mathematics Faculty is currently active.

 

Appointments are normally for three years.  Appointees will be expected to fulfill teaching duties (two one-quarter courses in the first and third year, three in the second year), pursue their own research program, and be in residence even when not teaching.  Summer can be used for one-month vacation, research and other scholarly activities.

 

These positions will be offered if funds are available.


Qualifications and terms of appointment:

  • Applicant must have or should expect to receive a PhD in Mathematics or related field by the time the fellowship begins
  • Applicants who are currently employed as postdocs are eligible
  • Appointment is for 3 years
  • Salary is $76,000 in the first year
  • Research fund of $3,000 per annum
  • One-time allowance to assist with the move
  • Annual vacations: 21 days, not including Caltech Holidays
  • Annual sick leave: 15 days
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
