Tenure-track Open-rank Position in Statistics The Department of Mathematics at the University of St.
Thomas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member in probability
and statistics to begin in September 2024. We invite candidates at the rank of
assistant, associate, or professor; depending on candidate qualifications, an
expedited review for tenure, or years of credit toward tenure, may be
negotiated.
The University of St. Thomas is a liberal arts institution that values excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate is expected to teach intermediate and advanced courses in undergraduate probability and statistics (e.g., Mathematical Statistics, Predictive Modeling, Generalized Linear Models, Bayesian Statistics and Credibility Theory). Other mathematics and/or actuarial science courses may also fall into the candidate’s portfolio based on candidate experience and programmatic needs. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, usually with two distinct preparations per semester. In addition to teaching and student advising, the faculty member is expected to demonstrate an effective research program and perform service to the department, university, and/or greater community. The Center for Faculty Development offers support for faculty
at the University, including a robust internal grants program to support
faculty research and scholarship. The Center for Applied Mathematics (http://www.stthomas.edu/cam is located within
the department and supports faculty and student research on a variety of
projects in the fields of applied mathematics and statistics. Through

Minimum requirements: Applicants must have Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, or in a closely related field, or alternatively ABDs nearing completion of the Ph.D. will be considered, with the initial appointment to be made at the rank of instructor.
