Position Description
Wheaton College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics to begin Fall 2024. An appointment at the Associate level may be considered depending on qualifications of the applicant. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in mathematics are strongly encouraged to apply. We seek a colleague dedicated to engaging undergraduate instruction in a liberal arts setting, supporting the general education curriculum and coursework in mathematics with an emphasis on theoretical and proof-based mathematics, including modern algebra, analysis (real and complex), geometry, topology, and/or number theory. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or related field and have experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates must be committed to deepening intercultural competence on Wheaton College’s campus by engaging in culturally responsive pedagogy that challenges and supports every member of the college’s diverse student body. Faculty are expected to teach 6 courses a year, maintain an active and productive program of scholarship that engages Wheaton undergraduate students, and participate in institutional service to the college.
