The College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan invite applications for full-time tenure-track or tenured positions in quantum science and technology to begin August 26, 2024. As part of an initiative in quantum science and technology at the University the Michigan Quantum Research Institute is being formed and 8 new faculty will be hired. These faculty can be rostered in the following departments (jointly if appropriate): LSA/Physics, COE/Electrical and Computer Engineering, LSA/Math, COE/Computer Science and Engineering, LSA/Chemistry, COE/Materials Science and Engineering, depending on the best fit for the applicant.

Successful candidates will focus on foundational research and development for advanced quantum technologies exploiting entanglement and coherent superposition. We are particularly interested in people leading in transformative research and disruptive technologies, engaging and leveraging the University’s existing strengths in quantum-light information science and technology, including advanced spectroscopy, quantum phenomena in semiconductors, Rydberg atoms, two-dimensional quantum materials, quantum integration, quantum dynamics and computation, quantum control, quantum field theories, quantum communications, networks, electrodynamics, microwave technologies, and algorithms, or systems software for quantum-information processing. We invite diverse candidates across all these areas to apply.
