POSITION DESCRIPTION The Department of Mathematics (https://math.ucsd.edu), within the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. We invite applications for 1-3 positions at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of Mathematical and Statistical Data Science. All positions are subject to availability of funding.

Teaching in mathematics, statistics, and related topics will be expected. Ideally, candidates will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

QUALIFICATIONS Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The candidate must be ABD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field at the time of application Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability of scholarly impact and research productivity. Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability to teach and advise students. Evidence of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field prior to the start date.

A successful candidate should have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.
