The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in Mathematical Biology. Applicants will be considered at all ranks. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Responsibilities include establishing an internationally recognized research program in Mathematical Biology, that engages students at all levels; collaborating across the university in research and grant efforts; teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses; engaging with curriculum development to meet on-going needs for training a STEM focused student body; and delivering service to the department, Institute, and profession. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor positions are expected to contribute to leadership and service as a senior faculty member at Georgia Tech. 

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications for these positions are: 

(1) A PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences, and have the potential to (2) carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech; (3) complement existing strengths in the School of Mathematics; (4) enhance connections to programs and Institutes at Georgia Tech; (5) have strong potential for external funding; (6) demonstrate enthusiasm for supervision of junior researchers at all levels; (7) contribute to other School of Math and Georgia Tech strategic priorities, including intra- and interdisciplinary connections; and (8) have the ability in teaching, scholarship, and/or service that contributes to the Student Success Criteria listed below.

The School of Mathematics faculty instruct students from across campus, including undergraduate and graduate students. Its faculty carry out research in a wide variety of Mathematical Sciences. Expertise in the School in mathematical biology includes, immunology, microbial dynamics, several areas at the interface of molecular biology and discrete mathematics, disease transmission, biological networks, mathematical neuroscience, bioinformatics and statistical methods in biology, and aggregation dynamics. The leadership for the NSF-Simons Center – The Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology - is in the School of Math at Georgia Tech. Furthermore, the School is a key partner in several programs at Georgia Tech, including PhD programs in Bioinformatics, Quantitative Biosciences, Biostatistics, as well as Algorithms, Computation and Optimization, Computational Science and Engineering, and Machine Learning. Georgia Tech has a variety of complementary strengths, including biomedical engineering, neuroscience, biochemistry, and data analysis in the life sciences. The School plays leadership roles in TRIAD, the cross-disciplinary NSF-funded center in data science, and the NSF-funded research training hub in Geometry and Topology (GTGT).
