Position Description
The Data Analytics Department of Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track position in data analytics at the assistant professor level beginning in the fall of 2024, pending approval and funding. The applicant will contribute primarily to the college’s growing curriculum in data analytics. Applicants are expected to have an ongoing research program in data science theory or applications, and to hold, at the time of appointment, a Ph.D. in a discipline that employs data science, including but not limited to data science, statistics, business analytics, economics, mathematics, or computer science. A dedicated commitment to delivering exceptional undergraduate instruction, an understanding of the collaborative ethos of a liberal arts institution, and the capability to engage effectively with a diverse student population are essential qualities. Tenure- track faculty teach five course equivalents a year, pursue their own scholarship, advise students, and mentor undergraduate research initiatives. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses which could include introduction to data science, data systems, machine learning, data mining, and other data analytics electives. Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year, independent liberal arts college with approximately 2,100 students. It is located in historic Carlisle, Pennsylvania, which is 20 minutes west of Harrisburg and a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. The faculty prides itself on fostering meaningful student/faculty interactions, implementing innovative pedagogy, and promoting student/faculty research.
