The successful candidate will join a vibrant department of approximately 60 faculty and 85 graduate students pursuing research in a broad array of pure and applied areas. A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a closely related field is required. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. The University of Florida is ranked among the top public universities in the United States and serves as a flagship of the State University System of Florida, with exceptional research, teaching, and a university-wide commitment to diversity. The Department of Mathematics is committed to creating an environment that affirms diversity across a variety of dimensions, including ability, class, ethnicity/race, gender identity and expression. We particularly welcome applicants who can contribute to such an environment through their scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and professional service. The university and greater Gainesville community enjoy a diversity of cultural events, restaurants, year-round outdoor recreational activities, and social opportunities. Over the past few years the University has made significant investments in faculty and infrastructure, adding hundreds of new faculty lines and upgrading classroom and laboratory facilities. The University is home to HiPerGator, one of the most powerful high-performance computers at a US public university (www.rc.ufl.edu/services/hipergator/), and recently added the new AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPod (https://news.ufl.edu/2020/07/nvidia-partnership/) in support of the AI initiative, which aims to expand the role of AI in higher education and research (https://ai.ufl.edu). All mathematics faculty and graduate students have access to HiPerGator computing through the Center for Applied Mathematics. Applications must be submitted on-line via mathjobs and at https://explore.jobs.ufl.edu/en-us/listing/ (search job number 528734) and must include: (1) a cover letter, (2) a complete curriculum vitae including a list of publications, (3) a research statement summarizing the applicant’s qualifications, past research, and future research plans, (4) a statement of teaching experience and interest, and (5) the names and email addresses of at least three references must be provided. An email will be sent to your references, requesting them to upload their confidential letter to the UF submission packet. The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on November 1, 2023, and continue accepting applications until the position is filled. The final candidates will be required to provide an official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible.
