Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis is an international highly regarded academic community of more than 100 employees, with around 20 professors, 10 lecturers, 20 postdocs, and 45 doctoral candidates. Postdoctoral Researcher in Mathematics: Well-rounded number-theoretic lattices

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of algebraic number theory and Euclidean lattices. Possible research topics include:

-Well-rounded lattices -Lattice packings and quantization -Hard lattice problems and lattice algorithms -Applications to security

Research experience in algebraic number theory and familiarity with lattices is essential. Additionally, some background in probability theory and/or complexity theory is considered an asset. The applicant is expected to hold a PhD degree in mathematics. A research level proficiency in English, both writing and speaking, is expected.

We offer a diverse, international, and open research environment. We expect the candidate to significantly shape the research questions which we investigate together as well as to pursue their own research with their existing research networks. Additionally, the candidate can benefit from our extensive academic and industrial networks.

The position will be supervised by Professor Camilla Hollanti and be part of the Algebra, Number Theory, and Applications (ANTA) Group (https://math.aalto.fi/en/research/discrete/anta/index.html). ANTA is part of the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis (https://math.aalto.fi/en/) hosting several strong research groups.

The tentative duration of the position is January — December 2024, but the starting date is negotiable. There is an option to renew the contract subject to mutual agreement. The initial monthly gross salary is €3880, including occupational health care.
