Position description The University of California, Berkeley is expanding its research and teaching activity in the field of Quantum Information Science (QIS). This broadly encompasses computation, sensing and measurement, simulation, communication, and related areas, as part of Berkeley's Quantum Initiative. This search is for a tenure track, assistant professor position. It is expected to result in recruitment of a new faculty member, who will engage with Berkeley's strong existing programs in QIS that encompass various departments, and who will participate in leading future explorations of the fascinating consequences of quantum mechanics for increased understanding of our world and the development of advanced technologies. The Department of Physics, together with its partners the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Math, the College of Chemistry, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, is searching for a new faculty member who is committed to research and teaching in QIS, and who has experimental and/or theoretical expertise. It is the intention of these partnering departments to recruit several faculty in the QIS area over the next few years.
