Program Description
The University of Michigan and the National Institutes of Health will jointly invest $79 million to support and recruit 30 new faculty members to the Ann Arbor campus as part of a nationwide effort to enhance inclusion and equity across the biomedical and health sciences community.
The College of Literature Science and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks outstanding scholars for new tenure-track assistant professor faculty positions as part of the 2023 Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT) Program. This hiring program, funded by the University of Michigan and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), aims to recruit faculty with a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) via their scholarship, teaching, and/or service activities with research interests suitable for funding by the NIH. This call is part of a broader university effort to enhance inclusion and equity across the biomedical and health sciences community. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree conferred by July 1, 2024 and must never have had a tenure-track faculty appointment.
The following departments in LSA are participating in the program this year: Biophysics, Chemistry; Complex Systems; Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; Mathematics; Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology; Psychology; and Statistics. Application materials are due Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET (reference letters will be accepted until November 20, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET). See the M-PACT website for program details, application components, eligibility criteria, and application portal. Applicants for LSA departments can write separate or combined DEI and service statements. If a combined statement is written, it must be uploaded for both the DEI and service statements.
The program is administered by U-M’s Office of the Vice President for Research, in partnership with the Office of the Provost and in conjunction with LSA academic departments.
