Position Description
The Mathematical Physics group in the Institute for Mathematics at Heidelberg University invites applications for a postdoctoral position (2+1yrs, E13) at the interface of geometry and theoretical physics with anticipated start in Fall 2024. Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree in physics or mathematics, and demonstrate an outstanding potential in a relevant research topic, such as supersymmetric and topological quantum field theory, string theory and supergravity, mirror symmetry and its ramifications, algebraic geometry, and relations with arithmetics. Both mathematicians with interests in theoretical physics, and physicists with a more mathematical profile will be considered. Duties include independent and collaborative research, and contribution to teaching activities. The appointment will normally be made for a period of 2 years, with an extension by one additional year possible upon mutual agreement.
