Position Description
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for full time, tenure track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Mathematics faculty positions in the Department of Mathematics that begin in August 2024.
Responsibilities
·
Teach undergraduate level mathematics courses.
·
Lead in the ongoing refinement and improvement of the Calculus for
the Life Sciences course.
·
Contribute professional service to the department, college, university
and/or the professional community.
·
Establish and maintain a program of research that includes regular
publication in peer-reviewed journals and ongoing efforts to obtain external
research funding.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
· PhD
degree, or the foreign equivalent, in
Mathematics or Applied Mathematics with a research emphasis in modelling of
biological and/or ecological systems. For ABDs, Required
degree must be earned by start date.
·
A demonstrated potential and a strong commitment to excellence in
teaching undergraduate level mathematics courses ranging from general education
courses through more advanced mathematics courses.
·
A strong commitment to student success and a desire to invest deeply in
KSU students.
·
Research experience in the modeling of biological and/or ecological
systems and a record (commensurate with career stage) of scholarly products
produced from such research.
Required Qualifications for Associate
Professor applicants include:
·
All of the above required qualifications for Assistant Professor applicants.
·
Having already held an Associate Professor (or higher) rank.
·
An established record of interdisciplinary research collaboration with
the life sciences.
·
Post-doctoral experience
·
Potential for obtaining external research funding (for applicants at the
assistant professor level).
·
Prior success in obtaining external research funding (for applicants at
the associate professor level).
·
Experience in developing or teaching undergraduate mathematics courses
for students majoring in the life sciences.
·
Interest in contributing to the development and implementation of a
potential graduate program in mathematics and in supporting other graduate
programs at the university where applicable.
