The Department of Mathematics invites applications for Van Vleck
Visiting Assistant Professorships with partial funding from the Office of Naval Research to begin on August 19, 2024, contingent on budgetary approval. The successful candidate will will conduct research in multi-model data assimilation and uncertianty quanification. Extensive skill in numerical simulations is required. Background or experience in one of the following areas is preferred: stochastic modeling, geophysics, dynamical systems, uncertianty quantification, or data assimilation. The postdoc will be supervised by Prof. Nan Chen. Information about Dr. Chen's current research, reprints, and preprints is available at his faculty website, https://people.math.wisc.edu/~nchen29/ Appointments are normally for a fixed term of three years. The teaching load will usually be 2 courses per year for the first two years, 3 courses in the third year. Promise of excellence in research and teaching is important.
