Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications from candidates working in Probability Theory, Applied Probability or Dynamical Systems for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2024.

We are particularly interested in someone with expertise in ergodic theory, extreme value theory, large deviations, stable laws and anomalous diffusion, mathematical statistical mechanics, information theory, and probabilistic number theory or geometry, who would complement and enhance the excellent group at the Department of Mathematics, further collaborations with the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute at UH, the UH Cullen College of Engineering, the UH Medical School and the Texas Medical Center.

The Department of Mathematics is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and a commitment to enhancing our university in all aspects of academic life.

Qualifications

A minimum requirement for this position is a PhD in Mathematics, or a related field.
