Position Description
The Department of Mathematical Analysis, Charles University (Prague) announces an open position for a
Ph.D. student working on rate-independent systems
arising from physical models. The student will work under the guidance of Barbora Benesova, to whom also all inquiries about the position should be addressed.
Short description of the project:
We will work on the analysis of rate independent systems that include plasticity, damage, crack growth etc. The mathematical methods will be centered around calculus of variations, PDEs and inclusions as well as function spaces.
What we offer:

A salary of at least 20 000 CZK (approx. 800 Euro) plus a scholarship of at least 11 000 CZK (approx. 400 Euro)

Work within a multidisciplinary project with possible cooperations within material science (project Ferrmion)

Financing of conferences, schools and a longer research stay at a foreign institution

Embedding into the School of Mathematics with a wide selection of courses and seminars

What we seek:

A motivated student with a solid background in mathematical analysis (calculus of variations, partial differential equations, functions spaces)

A completed or soon to be completed Master degree
