Position Description

Kiel University aims to attract more qualified women for professorships. 

The Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Kiel University (Germany) invites applications for the 

 W 3-Professorship in Analysis A 

 and
 
 W 3-Professorship in Analysis B 

to start at April 1, 2024. 

Potential candidates should be internationally recognized and have an outstanding research record in active areas of analysis. Their expertise in pure mathematics should complement the existing branches of mathematics at Kiel University, in particular in analysis, in a reasonable way. 

Duties include research and teaching at the Department of Mathematics, also for prospective teachers and students of other faculties. The future holder of the professorship in Analysis B is expected to contribute to the teaching portfolio in at least one of the areas partial differential equations or harmonic analysis. 

It is expected that the candidate will be able to teach in both German and English within a reasonable period of time. Furthermore, the successful candidate should be willing to participate in the administration of the department and to serve on faculty committees. 

The Department of Mathematics with its 13 professorships in pure and applied mathematics offers an attractive environment for research and collaboration. Cooperation with the research priority areas of Kiel University and with the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) is possible as well.
