Duties and Responsibilities 
The College of Arts and Sciences at North Park University seeks applications for an open-rank tenure- track position in the Department of Mathematics beginning the 2024-25 academic year. The department is seeking a candidate with expertise in teaching proof-based courses. 

  • Teach proof-based courses including Discrete Mathematics and Abstract Algebra. 
  • Teach upper-level mathematics courses connected to the Senior High education endorsement in mathematics. 
  • Teach additional courses based on the needs of the department. 
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and full-faculty activities and meetings as well as University events and programs. 
  • Satisfy the expectations and requirements of faculty as listed in the University’s Manual of Academic Personnel Policies. 

Qualifications 

Required: 
  • PhD in Mathematics or a closely related area; qualified ABD candidates will be considered. An ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with students, administrators, faculty, staff members, and outside constituencies. 
  • Enthusiastic about teaching in a Christian, liberal arts environment that is open to all students. 
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park University’s mission of Christian higher education. 
  • Have good attention to detail and excellent organizational and planning skills. 

Desired: 
  • Experience as a classroom teacher in a diverse school setting. 
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management System. 
  • Ability to work independently and with others, and to be proactive. 
  • Comfortable with using new technology.
