The Center for Applied Math in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks applications for teaching-track academic general faculty positions in Applied Mathematics (APMA) to begin in August 2024. Academic general faculty positions are described fully in the policy PROV-004: Employment of Academic General Faculty Members. Candidates of any rank will be considered. We seek applicants who can teach across the APMA curriculum. The responsibilities of the position will include teaching six APMA courses per academic year. 

Applicants must hold an advanced degree in applied mathematics, mathematics or mathematics education, engineering, or a closely related field with a strong mathematical component. Candidates should also have a demonstrated record of using innovative and evidence-based teaching practices and working in a collaborative instructional environment. To be considered for a position as an Assistant Professor or higher, applicants must have a Ph.D. degree by the start date. Along with teaching, faculty in professorial positions also have service responsibilities and will be expected to engage in either discipline or educational scholarship activities for promotion. To be considered for Lecturer, applicants must have at least a Master’s degree plus teaching experience. Lecturers will typically be expected to engage in service, but will not be required to be engaged in scholarship.
