The university is currently driving an ambitious expansion of research related to Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science. In this context, a new open rank Professorship with a focus on Applied Mathematics has been opened in the School of Science. Accordingly, Constructor University invites applications from interested candidates for the following position, to be filled ideally by August 2024:
Professor of Applied Mathematics (m/f/d)
(full time; open track)
The rank is dependent on seniority and experience and can be either Assistant Professor (tenure-track), or a tenured position as Associate or Full Professor. We are looking for suitable candidates working in Applied Mathematics in a broad sense, including but not limited to the areas of Discrete Mathematics, Probability, Statistics, Applied Analysis, Data Science and Machine Learning or Scientific Computing.
Your responsibilities:
Successful candidates are expected to:
- maintain an internationally recognized high-profile research program in their area of interest (commensurable with the rank of the position),
- have experience or a strong potential to acquire grants or third-party funding,
- have a strong teaching record and be able to teach a variety of mathematical courses both in the Bachelor program "Mathematics, Modeling, and Data Analytics", and in other undergraduate and graduate programs on campus,
- contribute to curricula development,
- contribute to the development of innovative teaching formats, including online teaching,
- participate in the academic self-governance and department life.
- support and advise students on their studies and supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD theses and research projects.

Your qualifications:
- PhD degree in the field of Mathematics or a related field
- Strong publication record related to Applied Mathematics.
- Proven experience and success in teaching in international and diverse environments
- Demonstrable interest in innovative teaching and learning approaches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
- Intercultural experience and competence
