The Department of Mathematics at Elmhurst University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to teach in a primarily undergraduate setting while developing a solid research agenda that complements their excellence in teaching.

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Statistics is required along with demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring in a comprehensive liberal arts setting. Candidates with prior experience teaching and mentoring students at either the community college or undergraduate level are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Elmhurst University Department of Mathematics places a high value on teaching excellence, collegiality, collaboration, and innovation in both teaching and research. The successful candidate will join a department strongly integrated in the STEM culture of the university which also supports our curriculum in Business, Computer Science, and Physics. This position includes teaching mathematics and statistics at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, major advising and mentoring, and supervising undergraduate research projects including our capstone senior paper that is required of all mathematics and actuarial science majors. Candidates with prior experience teaching and mentoring students at either the community college or undergraduate level are strongly encouraged to apply. The teaching load is six courses per year. Typical class sizes range from 10-25 students.
