Description: The Mathematics Department at Stony Brook University expects to have one position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor available beginning in the fall semester of 2024 contingent on funding availability. We seek candidates with outstanding research achievements and potential, as well as a strong commitment to teaching.
A requirement of the position includes teaching a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate mathematics students, and a commitment to departmental and university service. Applicants in all fields are encouraged to apply. Along with mathematicians working in areas of traditional interest in the department - which include geometry and topology in many flavors, complex and real analysis, dynamical systems, partial differential equations, mathematical physics, number theory, and mathematics education - we are also interested in building in other areas, including algebra and probability.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in mathematics.
- Candidates must have an excellent publication record.
- Preference is given to candidates who have received their PhD at least 5 years ago.
