Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at Union College welcomes applications for a 3-year visiting assistant professor position. The start date for the appointment will be September 1, 2024.
The position is open to candidates who will have a Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics by September 2024, who have strong teaching credentials in undergraduate mathematics, and who have a record of scholarly achievement that suggests a continuing commitment to scholarship.
At Union, institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; candidates should demonstrate excellence in both areas. The teaching load is two courses per trimester. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$69,000, commensurate with experience.
Located in the Capital District of New York State, Union is a selective liberal arts college with academic programs in arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary studies. In 1845, Union College became the first liberal arts institution in the nation to offer a degree in engineering. Today, the College offers degree programs in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, and mechanical engineering. In addition to the department’s own programs in mathematics, statistics, and financial and actuarial mathematics, our curriculum supports many of the above programs.
