The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science invites applicants for a 3 year term Assistant Professor position in Data Science, beginning August 2024.

We seek a highly motivated, teaching-centered colleague who will actively engage with students. Applicants should have an academic background in statistics and should be proficient in R. Applicants should demonstrate effective pedagogical strategies in the classroom and have the ability to teach undergraduate introductory statistics courses and develop and teach upper division courses.

Duties primarily include 12 hours per semester teaching courses related to our Data Science program. Since teaching is the position’s primary responsibility, a record of and potential for excellence in teaching mathematics is the most important component for ranking candidates. Potential for active scholarship and willingness to serve on campus-wide committees will also be part of our consideration.
