Position Description

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in pure or applied mathematics starting August 5, 2024: the John T. Beresford Endowed Chair in Mathematics & Statistics. Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service are expected. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position.

In particular, the successful applicant for the John T. Beresford Endowed Chair will be expected to engage in teaching and research in an area of mathematics that supports the computer science discipline. Expectations include a demonstrable record of peer-reviewed publications (at least one per year) involving undergraduate and/or graduate students; submission of at least one federal grant proposal per year; and evidence of mentorship including presentations with students at local, regional, and national meetings.

Representatives from UCO will be at the Employment Center at the Joint Mathematics Meeting.
