Position Description

Teaching Assistant Professor of Math opportunity in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at UW-Superior.

Designs and facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction within an academic discipline to ensure quality delivery of instruction and integration of content within an academic work unit. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record. Advises students, facilitates course assessment, and may supervise student employees. Develops a program of scholarly work that informs or contributes to teaching and learning. Provides service as a contributing member of the department and a participant in university and professional service.

JOB DUTIES: • Facilitate classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses with an average of 12 credits per semester (as assigned by department chair), including assessment of student performance • Participate in department meetings • Serve as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations • Develop and design curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction • Advise students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study • May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction • Collaborate with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline • Contribute to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations • Contribute to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit

Other Duties: • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned. • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: • Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics or closely related field from an accredited institution • University level teaching experience

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: • Ph.D. in Mathematics or closely related field from an accredited institution • Experience or interest in teaching in an online modality
